Case Study 1 – Drombane Upperchurch Energy Team

Gearóid supported a community planning process with Drombane Village Group, who wanted to stimulate activity in the community. Or as they put it themselves "get something going." An initial community planning exercise overseen by Gearóíd highlighted a number of key priorities for the community, including improving the look of the village and developing an energy project.
By involving partners from LIT Thurles, Tipperary Energy Agency, and the local community, a detailed community energy survey (www.bit.ly/tippnrg) was carried out (2011). During this time, Gearóid supported the formation of the local Energy Team, including recruitment of intern, as part of the development of this innovative community energy initiative.

Case Study 2 – Energy Communities Tipperary Cooperative

Since 2012, Gearóid has supported the development of this unique energy efficiency cooperative called Energy Communities Tipperary Cooperative clg (ECTC).
Since 2014, this organisation has overseen the investment of over 5 million euro in investment in energy efficiency in Tipperary, through insulating local homes and community buildings, and installing more energy efficient technology.
For more information see the organisation's blog on www.energycommunities.wordpress.com

Case Study 3 – Borrisokane Community Resource Centre CLG

Work here involved supporting formation of new community group to take on the running of community facility. Work included:
- rollout of a community planning programme in conjunction with local volunteers
- developing and delivering a bespoke social enterprise training programme;
- development of a community business plan
- liaising with an architect on the drafting of a design and use report
